Hi, I’m Nadia!
I am a third year doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information where I am working on my PhD in Information Science and advised by Dr. Nazanin Andalibi, as well as pursuing a graduate certificate in Digital Studies from the UM-LSA Digital Studies Institute. I am part of the Marginality in Sociotechnical Systems (MiSTS) research group. I am also an affiliate researcher with the Center for Ethics, Society, and Computing (ESC). My work is situated in the fields of Social Computing, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Science, Technology and Society studies (STS), primarily investigating the connections between technology, power, bodily autonomy, and reproductive (in)justice.
I graduated from the University of Michigan with my Master of Health Informatics and Master of Urban and Regional Planning with a focus on Data Analytics and UX Research in May 2021. During my time at the University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI), I worked directly with Dr. Nazanin Andalibi as a REMs Fellow and advisee.
My work has been published in CSCW. I am a recipient of the Margaret Mann Award (’21), the top graduate student award UMSI grants for future promise through evidence of accomplishment and service at UMSI. I have also been selected as a UMSI Merit Scholar when beginning my doctoral program.
Prior to completing my graduate degree, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with a minor in Arab and Muslim American Studies. I enjoy trying new recipes, spending time with my round cat Yeimy, and exploring new cities and amusement parks with my loved ones.
